"Gallery" was designed for the art society Kunstforeningen Gammel Strand in Copenhagen and financially supported by Danmarks Nationalbanks Jubilæumsfond af 1968.
In 1995-98, Hans Sandgren Jacobsen developed the sculptural, yet simple and non-directional stool.
"Gallery", which has been awarded several times, demonstrates the art of the impossible:
moulding the veneer in three dimensions, which was initially considered unrealistic. However, the designer persisted working on the prototype until he succeded in creating this unique design.
Time for reflection. Walk about. Look around. A picture here, a sculpture there. Peace of mind. Sit down. There is a stool standing there, tempting and vacant. Creating its own space in the room without forcing itself on you. Transformation: Ten layers of plywood cut out in a 53 cm x 125 cm rectangle and stressed to the limit of the capacity of the material. No front nor a back and you can even sit astride it. Freedom. Several stools can be linked to make a row. Then you can invite your friends, too.
